Malware: A Discussion – Part 1

Part 1: What is it?

In its most simple terms, Malware is software that make its way on to your device with the intent to disrupt your device’s normal operation. The severest forms of Malware can damage or destroy your computer or cyber criminals can use Malware to steal your private data.

Like human illnesses, Malware can come in a variety of shapes and can be transmitted differently. Examples of Malware are viruses, ransomware, adware, Trojan viruses and worms. If just reading that list made you uneasy then that is a good thing. Having a proper regard for your digital saftey can go a long way to protecting yourself. Remember too that Malware is never static. There is not just one type of virus, adware, ransomware. Cyber criminals continually adjust and release new variants of Malware in the hope that they will ensnare more innocent parties.

We all value our privacy. We do not want our information being sold or exchanged between shady individuals or groups. So use this blog series as a way to ramp up your efforts to keep yourself safe.
